Our client is a leading global brewing company, recognized as one of the largest beer producers in the world. With a strong international presence, the organization is known for its premium brands, continuous global expansion, and commitment to sustainability. In Cambodia, the company operates in a fast-growing market and requires strong corporate governance and legal oversight to support its operations.
The Challenge
The client was seeking to hire a Head of Legal to oversee all legal matters for their Cambodian operations. However, recruiting for in-house legal leadership roles in Cambodia can be particularly challenging.
In the local market, most companies rely on external law firms rather than maintaining in-house legal teams, except for large multinational corporations and international organizations. As a result, the talent pool of experienced in-house legal professionals capable of operating within a fast-paced multinational environment is relatively limited.
The client required a candidate who could combine strong legal expertise, commercial understanding, and the ability to work effectively within a dynamic corporate structure.
Our Approach
Prior to this search, MyWorld had successfully placed an HR Director for the client - a milestone that represented our first Director-level placement in Cambodia shortly after launching our services in the country. Because of the trust established through that successful placement, the client approached MyWorld directly when the Head of Legal position became available.
Once engaged, we began by conducting targeted market mapping of senior in-house legal professionals across multinational companies and comparable industries. Leveraging our growing network of senior legal professionals in Cambodia, we carefully assessed candidates’ experience, leadership capability, and suitability for a multinational corporate environment.
Through this focused search, we identified and introduced a shortlist of qualified candidates who met the client’s technical and leadership expectations.
The Result
MyWorld presented 2-4 highly relevant candidates, one of whom progressed through the full interview process.
As a multinational organization, the hiring process involved multiple interview rounds. Throughout this process, we ensured consistent communication with both the client and the candidate, maintaining engagement and alignment until the final decision was made.
Following 4-5 interview stages, the client successfully extended an offer, and the candidate accepted the role.
