The Role

We’re looking for a Legal Director to provide leadership for our client’s legal team who will have overall responsibility for the Legal Team’s efforts, providing strategic direction and supervision. The Legal Director will work with legal staff, consultants, and partners/grantees to develop and implement legal strategies as an integrated part of overall advocacy strategies for policy change.

Description

  • Provide legal representation to the Organization, support the work of the Organization and manage the full range of legal strategies and responsibilities

  • Deliver counsel to staff in all departments on a variety of complex issues. Identify, research, and analyze legal issues that affect the Organization and its activities at the local, state, federal and international levels associated with the Organization’s activities, ongoing operations, and strategic initiatives, including but not limited to, revenue diversification, and jurisdictional and programmatic expansion.

  • Develop and implement staff-friendly plans, systems and procedures

  • Review the legal risks involved in various business deals and share the same with the management.

  • Review, update, and recommend for approval standard documentation, in accordance with market and industry practice, for use in derivative transactions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of legal experience in a top tier national or international law firm or business

  • Experience advising senior management of complex, international organizations

  • Bachelor’s degree in law with strong academic qualifications

  • Fluent English is required, and Chinese Mandarin is a plus

  • Strong legal experience in corporate and commercial matters

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented global or regional organization

  • Solid knowledge of general business law including regulatory framework
