The Role
This senior-level role focuses on planning and executing advanced Distribution Automation (DA) schemes across a utility network. You will manage end-to-end DA projects, integrate diverse devices and smart sensors, and ensure secure, real-time data communication for operational excellence

Description
Lead the design, implementation, and commissioning of distribution automation systems, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and compliance with industry standards
Configure and troubleshoot IEC 60870-5-104 communications over wireless technologies (cellular, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, Wi-Fi mesh) for real-time DA operations
Integrate IEDs, RTUs, smart sensors, and reclosers from multiple vendors into a unified DA system, ensuring seamless interoperability
Collaborate with IT/OT teams to design secure, high-performance wireless communication infrastructure for distribution networks
Provide technical guidance and support, diagnosing complex communication, control, and hardware issues
Manage DA projects from conception through execution, maintaining timelines, budgets, and quality standards
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, IEEE/IEC standards, and internal policies
Mentor junior engineers and field personnel on DA systems, best practices, and emerging technologies
Coordinate with equipment vendors, technology partners, and internal stakeholders to achieve project objectives
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
Minimum 10 years of experience in distribution automation, SCADA, and smart grid technologies
Strong expertise in IEC 60870-5-104/101 protocols, including configuration and troubleshooting
Hands-on experience with wireless communication technologies for utility applications (4G/5G, licensed/unlicensed radio, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, Wi-Fi mesh)
Solid understanding of distribution network topology, protection schemes, fault management, and grid operations
Proven experience managing large-scale utility integration projects
Knowledge of cybersecurity practices for industrial control and wireless systems
Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
