​Senior Transmission Automation Engineer for M&E engineering Firm in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

This senior-level position offers the chance to oversee SCADA integration across multiple substations and central control systems. You will design robust communication networks, optimize system performance, and ensure seamless real-time data flow across the transmission grid

Description

  • Lead the integration of substation SCADA systems with centralized control platforms, ensuring data reliability and operational efficiency

  • Design, configure, and maintain SCADA communication links using IEC 60870-5-104 protocols and troubleshoot network or data issues as they arise

  • Collaborate with network and IT teams to ensure secure, high-performance IP-MPLS connectivity for SCADA traffic

  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, system diagrams, and integration plans for ongoing operations

  • Support problem resolution for SCADA systems, analyzing root causes and implementing practical, long-term solutions

  • Lead automation projects from planning through execution, balancing timelines, budget constraints, and technical standards

  • Advise on regulatory compliance, industry best practices, and cybersecurity measures within SCADA and ICS environments

  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing within the team

  • Work closely with equipment vendors and service providers to guarantee optimal performance and integration of SCADA components

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Geoinformatics, or related discipline

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in transmission automation, substation SCADA integration, and control center communication systems

  • In-depth expertise in IEC 60870-5-104/101, IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus protocols, including configuration, testing, and troubleshooting

  • Hands-on experience with SCADA/EMS platforms, RTUs, PLCs, HMIs, and major industry vendors’ solutions

  • Strong understanding of IP-based networks, TCP/IP, routing protocols, network security, and IP-MPLS architectures

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks for industrial control and SCADA environments

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex technical challenges efficiently
